Day 9 - New York, New York
2025 USA day 9
Travel Log
Early start today to get over to the park and ride into New York, and it had snowed overnight - a nice dusting.
The ticket machines at the park and ride were terrible and the assistant wasn’t very helpful but eventually we got five tickets printed and on to the bus. The traffic was heavy but it was an easy way to get into the city.
We queued for bagels for breakfast at Liberty Bagels and we queued for coffee at Starbucks. Then we went into Macy’s and queued to see Santa, and because food and drink wasn’t allowed we had to down the coffees.
It was hot inside the buildings and cold outside so we constantly had to take coats and gloves and hats on and off.
The kids didn’t seem particularly interested in the city sights and it was mostly a trudge along busy sidewalks. Grand Central Station was rammed. McDonald’s provided a pit stop. And Saks provided a toilet break.
The pedicab tour was actually quite good - a nice break from the hustle and bustle in Central Park and having a tour guide tell us about the sights and movies.
Afterwards it was starting to turn into dusk and the city lights were quite nice. We were tired by now though so headed back to the bus depot for the trip back to the park and ride.
