Day 3 - North Conway and Nestlenook Farm
2025 USA day 3
Travel Log
Well our body clocks woke us all up at 4am 😳. By 5am it was an air hockey tournament in the games room and Nick was two coffees into the day.
There was no point in hanging around so we got to the Bagel shop when it opened at 6:30am and had coffee and bagels for breakfast. The sun was starting to rise and the light was lovely. It was about -10 degC.
We pulled into a scenic overlook with views to Mount Washington and the kids had a blast playing in the snow with snow angels. Everywhere we looked it was just magical. A real winter wonderland.
We warmed up in Walmart for a bigger food shop including getting some half price Ribeye and Nee York Strip steaks. Afterwards we went gift shopping in North Conway which would have been lovely if we didn’t have children 🤣.
Back at the holiday house the kids borrowed some sledges and played in the snow even more, before warming up in the hot tub.
After a light lunch we then drove just up the road to Jackson to see the covered bridge and to explore Nestlenook Farm. This turned out to be a really fun afternoon as we managed to do an hour of powder snowshoeing, a dusk horse-drawn sleigh ride, and ice skating on an actual frozen at night.
I’ll skip over Thea having a meltdown on the snowshoeing. The sleigh ride was the perfect time for the sun to go down and the lights to come out. The ice skating was a bit tricky on uneven lake ice but what a setting!
Back home, about 6pm now, we cooked those steaks and some sweetcorn for an absolutely delicious meal. Why is it that steak and corn tastes so much better in the States?!
