Day 24 - Mariposa and Wawona
Hiking · Hiking · Barn dance
Travel Log
Our plans for today were a bit uncertain. This is the first day of our holiday where the weather affected our plans. It was raining and cold when we woke up and snowing up on the Tioga pass! We had considered driving back up to Tuolumne meadows to have fun on the granite but realising it was around 6c and 40mph winds we figured the kids may refuse to get out of the car! The kids reported legs that did not work after the hike yesterday so a valley hike was also not an option. So we went to Wawona to small museum and to the grove of sequoias. Overall we weren’t especially awe struck by the big trees but it was an easy morning and Wawona was charming.
We then drove up to Glacier point, the weather wasn’t looking great but this was our last chance to see it. Fortunately the cloud cleared just as we got to the top, it was incredible and we sat there for a while just soaking up the view. We then went home for dinner and out to a Barndance in Wawona, this was great atmosphere and we joined in for a few dances before driving back out to the view point on the glacier point road to see the stars after dark.
